Portland’s nickname is “the City of Roses,” and roses are celebrated in rose gardens and a huge Rose Festival week.
Back in the 1920s, Frank Miller decided to go into the nursery business and sell rose bushes. He had the perfect location, a large side yard that sat on the corner of their property. He planted bushes.
And he made a sign.
The business didn’t succeed, but the roses remained on that corner of N. Wabash and Terry for years.
